Tajikistan Delegation Conducts Study Visit to Water Committee

The Water Committee hosted a delegation from Tajikistan comprising representatives of various departments of the Agency for Land Reclamation and Irrigation.
The purpose of the visit was to conduct a comprehensive review of Armenia’s water sector governance, The delegation focused specifically on the Water Committee's institutional structure, its strategic policy framework, and the implementation of large-scale infrastructure projects.
During the meeting, Deputy Chairmen of the Water Committee Martiros Nalbandyan, David Mkrtchyan and Zaven Pepoyan presented the structure of the Committee, the modalities of cooperation with the Water User Associations, the principles of water allocation, the mechanisms for data-driven decision-making, and the processes for tariff calculation and fee collection. The meeting also covered the GIS-based water management system, showcasing the role of digital solutions in the efficient management of water resources.
Davlatmurod Khoshaev, the Head of the Tajikistan delegation, along with representatives from various governmental agencies, provided an overview of the current state of irrigation management in Tajikistan and shared their strategic expectations for the visit.
The meeting concluded with a question-and-answer session, which provided an opportunity for the parties to identify several prospective areas for cooperation and to reaffirm the importance of continued dialogue.
