Syunik Region Remains in the Focus of the Water Committee

Working tours by the management of the Water Committee continue in Syunik region, aimed at reviewing on site the challenges of drinking water supply and irrigation systems, assessing the condition of infrastructure and developing practical steps for improvement.
This time, Chairman Aramazd Ghalamkaryan and Deputy Chairman Martiros Nalbandyan visited the Goris and Sisian divisions of the Syunik Water User Association, toured pumping stations serving the settlements, reviewed the Goris pressure pipeline and the basin area of the future Khndzoresk Reservoir.
The Committee’s management also met with Goris Community Head Arush Arushanyan, who presented successful completed and ongoing programmes in the enlarged community in the fields of irrigation and drinking water, including local solutions for irrigation water storage and supply. The parties discussed the causes of technical interruptions in drinking water supply and possible solutions. The planned construction of the future Khndzoresk Reservoir was also addressed.
Mr. Ghalamkaryan and Mr. Nalbandyan also visited Sisian community, met with Community Head Hovsep Arakelyan and discussed current issues in irrigation infrastructure. In Sisian, representatives of the Water Committee reviewed on site the operation of pumping stations serving the settlements.
It is noted that the Committee’s management had recently visited a number of other settlements in Syunik, reviewed the need for modernisation of water infrastructure on site and, together with sector officials, outlined current improvement programmes.
