December 15, 2025

Chairman of the Water Committee Aramazd Ghalamkaryan participated in the 14th Annual Ministerial Meeting of the Regional Centre on Urban Water Management (RCUWM) in Tehran, the capital of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

During the meeting convened by Iran’s Minister of Energy and Chairman of the RCUWM Governing Council, Abbas Ali Abadi, discussions addressed the impact of global urban population growth on limited water resources, climate change and its effects on water quality, water management and the water cycle, declining water reserves, and the need for a coordinated international response.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Water Committee stated that Armenia is ready to continue its constructive participation in the work of the regional centre, including efforts aimed at strengthening shared water security in the region.

Aramazd Ghalamkaryan emphasised that Armenia sees effective solutions to regional water challenges through coordinated actions, complementary expert capacities and long-term strategic cooperation.

Accompanied by Armenia’s Ambassador to Iran, Grigor Hakobyan, Mr Ghalamkaryan attended the 21st International Exhibition of the Water Industry, Water Supply and Sanitation Systems at the Tehran International Exhibition Centre. He reviewed technological solutions, services and products offered by leading Iranian companies, assessed their potential applicability for modernising Armenia’s water infrastructure, and established contacts for possible future cooperation.

A representative of the Armenian delegation also visited an Iranian hydropower resources development company, which is among the largest constructors of reservoirs and energy infrastructure in Iran.
In meetings with senior officials of Iran’s Ministry of Energy, Mr Ghalamkaryan discussed a number of issues of mutual interest, including the possibility of hosting the next meeting of the RCUWM Governing Council in Armenia.
