New Reservoirs for Sustainable Agriculture

The "Armenia Reservoir and Irrigation System Enhancement" (ARISE) program has officially launched in Armenia with the support of the Asian Development Bank. A consulting agreement has been signed for an 8-month feasibility study on the construction of new reservoirs in Getik, Karmir Gyugh, and Garnahovit.
Discussions have already started at the Water Committee to ensure the effective implementation of the project.
The program aims to:

Increase water storage capacity

Ensure sustainable irrigation

Enhance community resilience to climate change

Strengthen food security
The feasibility study includes:

Techno-economic assessment of reservoirs

Environmental and social impact analysis

Basin management and modernization of irrigation systems

Preparation of an investment package to be submitted to the Public Investment Committee
The project is expected to improve water access for approximately 3,500 farmers and boost agricultural productivity
