Deputy Chairman of the Water Committee Martiros Nalbandyan met with Audrey Courdine, the Armenia Program Officer at the French Development Agency (AFD), to discuss the «Water and Agriculture Integrated Development in Armenia» (WAIDA) program aimed at integrated development of the water sector and agriculture in the communities of Sisian, Goris, and Meghri.

Key Focus Areas of the Program:

• Rehabilitation and modernization of irrigation systems, including gravity-fed networks, pumping stations, and water reuse technologies

• Development of high-productivity and climate-resilient agriculture, with a strong focus on engaging youth, women, and local cooperatives

• Support for agribusiness development, including agri-tourism and smart marketing strategies

• Implementation of digital solutions to promote “green” and smart agriculture

The WAIDA program will contribute to the sustainable management of water resources, increase agricultural competitiveness, and foster socio-economic development in the region.
